The chaplaincy exists to be a caring and approachable Christian presence within the school. The chaplain plays a key role in encouraging girls to believe that there is more to life than exam success and material prosperity. In the tradition of the school, that means they will seek to share the great Christian tradition and enable them to understand the church, its language and practices. However, the chaplain is there to support and serve the whole school community and to encourage spirituality in all people whatever their background or creed.Purpose of the role: Enrich the life of the school through prayer, reflection, assemblies, pastoral presence, and community service. Support pupils and staff in their spiritual, emotional, and personal development. Contribute to the school’s values and ethos Encourage students to explore meaning, purpose, and values. Be a visible, approachable presence around the school. Promote charitable and service-based initiatives aligned with the school’s culture.St Swithun’s School, Winchester is a leading GSA and HMC school offering day, weekly boarding and full boarding for 520 girls aged 11-18. The senior school has six boarding houses for full and weekly boarders, with separate houses for those in their first year and those in the upper sixth. There is also an adjoining IAPS Prep School for girls aged 3-11 with a co-educational nursery. The girls benefit from excellent teaching, sporting and recreational facilities.
