The post holder will report to the Language School Director. Purpose of job: The Principal will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of Concorde International Language School, ensuring the schools commercial success, academic quality, and compliance with accreditation standards. This includes managing day-to-day operations, developing strategic relationships, leading staff, and driving the recruitment strategy. Managing Strategy: To manage the school ensuring its commercial viability To develop productive strategic relationships with external organisations and international partners to support the success of NCC language schools To lead on ensuring Concorde International meets and where possible exceeds requirements for accreditation under the British Councils UK Inspection Scheme To contribute to the promotion of New City College courses as appropriate To support the schools Business Director to develop a strategy for student recruitment including the promotion of a suitable curriculum and accommodation offer To keep up to date with trends and developments in the EFL sector to inform decision making and maintain competitiveness To provide leadership and direction on marketing initiatives, ensuring the Marketing team actively promotes the school and the wider NCC language school network Managing Operations: To provide senior operational management for the day-to-day running To ensure that all school policies are up-to-date and fit for purpose To ensure that all staff work in accordance with school policies and their individual Job Descriptions To manage and maintain efficient use of the schools staffing resource To manage the operational delivery of the seasonal summer pop-up schools, ensuring that they meet operational, educational, and financial targets To coordinate management of complaint investigation and resolution and the reporting of these as appropriate Managing People: To be responsible for the line management, support, supervision and professional development review of designated staff, setting and monitoring performance and financial targets as appropriate To lead on the recruitment and selection of staff across the school and the designation of their responsibilities and duties To ensure that all new staff are given appropriate induction in accordance with school policy To identify staff training and development needs and ensure that these meet strategic and operational priorities To support and develop effective teamwork across the whole team Managing Finance: Responsible for the effective monitoring and control of school expenditure and budgets Overseeing payment of school suppliers and homestay providers such that payments are made on a timely basis Ensure the timely delivery of payroll data to the Business Director each month Managing provision of school premises to achieve satisfactory levels of décor and services for staff and students Engaging services to maintain and develop the school within agreed budgets Safeguarding: To act as or appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead To maintain up-to-date skills at Designated Safeguarding Lead level (Level 3) To create, disseminate and manage all policies related to student and staff safety, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant, and that staff are appropriately trained. These will include Concorde Internationals safeguarding policy, Health and Safety, Harassment and Bullying, DBS checks, PREVENT and Safeguarding To manage the training, availability and timetabling of staff trained in First Aid at work to ensure satisfactory levels of support To ensure that all off-site staff and student activities are thoroughly risk assessed in line with school policy Managing Information: To maintain expert knowledge of international, national and local developments in the EFL industry To lead on the monitoring, interpretation and active use of external data to inform curriculum planning and school strategy To lead the collection and analysis of relevant data, including financial performance, student satisfaction, and academic outcomes. Use data to inform strategic decisions and drive improvements To promote internal communication through: Ensuring that staff and students are well informed Convening meetings that are participative and focussed and where outcomes are followed through Taking the initiative to bring people together to support development or, if necessary, to resolve conflict In common with other school managers: Arrange annual leave so that no more than one senior post holder is away from the school at the same time To implement the Schools equality and diversity policies and to work actively to overcome discrimination on grounds of the following protected characteristics: age, disability, ethnicity, gender reassignment, religion and/or belief, pregnancy and maternity, marital status or civil partnerships, sex and sexual orientation. To carry out other duties as may reasonably be requested Person Specification: A sound knowledge and understanding of the EFL sector – Essential Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, influencing, problem-solving, numerical and presentation skills – Essential Experience of successful budget management and budgetary control – Essential Excellent organisational skills, including time management, progress chasing, project management and the ability to meet deadlines consistently – Essential Significant experience of line management – Essential Ability to work with students, staff, and external partners from diverse cultural backgrounds, promoting an inclusive and respectful environment whilst meeting targets – Essential Good levels of personal IT use and a willingness to enhance these skills – Essential The ability to contribute to the long-term strategic development of the schools – Essential An understanding of and commitment to Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding and practical ideas for their implementation in this post – Essential Possession of a degree and appropriate professional teaching qualifications – Desirable Experience of managing a language school successfully – Desirable Qualifications Cambridge DELTA Salary and Benefits £65,000.00 per annum Work Pension On-Site Parking
