This role works collaboratively with Science teaching staff to ensure that laboratory resources, equipment, and materials are prepared, maintained, and used safely and effectively. The Science Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in enabling high-quality practical learning experiences that inspire curiosity, enquiry, and scientific understanding. The role contributes to students’ academic development, engagement in science, and overall learning experience across the school community. As a key member of the school team, you will support the school’s vision in alignment with the mission of Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City, upholding the values and legacy of our founding institution, Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet.If you are organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting science education, we would be delighted to hear from you.The Role Job Title: Science Lab Assistant Reporting to: Deputy Head Senior (Academic)Laboratory Preparation and SupportPrepare, set up, and dismantle laboratory equipment and materials for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and PhysicsEnsure all practical activities are resourced in line with lesson requirements and curriculum objectivesSupport teachers during practical lessons where required, ensuring smooth and safe delivery of experimentsAssist in the development and trialling of new practical activities to enhance the science curriculumMaintain an organised, efficient, and well-stocked laboratory environmentHealth, Safety, and ComplianceEnsure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations and school policiesCarry out risk assessments for practical activities and ensure appropriate control measures are in placeSafely store, handle, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials in accordance with local regulations and best practiceMaintain up-to-date safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical inventoriesEnsure all equipment is regularly checked, maintained, and safe for usePromote a culture of safe working practices among staff and studentsResource Management and OrganisationMonitor stock levels and order laboratory supplies and equipment in a timely and cost-effective mannerMaintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and equipment servicingOrganise and label equipment and chemicals clearly to ensure accessibility and complianceSupport budget management by tracking resource usage and identifying efficienciesSupport for Teaching and LearningWork closely with teaching staff to understand lesson requirements and provide appropriate practical supportAssist in preparing
