We are looking for an English language teacher for our academy in the wonderful city of San Sebastian in the Basque Country, Northern Spain. The post starts in September 2026 and finishes in June 2027 with the possiblity of more work in the summer of 2027 if desired. Our teaching philosophy is based on small classes with maximum of 6 students so that they have ample opportunity to practise in class and ensures they can make quick progress throughout the academic year. The vast majority of our students are children from the age of 7 upwards, teenagers or young adults. We expect teachers to plan and deliver dynamic classes. Normally teachers teach 20 hours a week but the number is negotiable. Keeping an up to date record of students’ progress and contacting parents is also an important part of the job. Teachers have to write reports in Spanish twice a year, if teachers have a lower level of Spanish, they will be given help doing so. Qualifications A CELTA or equivalent is preferred but not essential. Applicants without a CELTA would be expected to have some teaching experience. Experience teaching children and Cambridge exams is also highly valued. Salary and Benefits Salary will be based upon experience and the number of hours a teacher wishes to work. Pay is competitive for this sector in this area. We are a small school and pride ourselves on our tight-knit team and rigourous teaching methods. Teachers can expect to recieve a lot of support especially if they are early in their teaching career. We have weekly individual meetings with each teacher as well as regular training sessions and workshops. Last year 85% of our students who took a Cambridge exam achieved a pass.
