About Epsom College TokyoEpsom College Tokyo is a new British international Preparatory School opening in Autumn 2027, located in Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, minutes from Tokyo Station. The school delivers the British National Curriculum to children aged 3–11, forming part of the global EDUC8 Group alongside Epsom College UK (est. 1855) and Epsom College Malaysia.Pupils progressing through Epsom Tokyo follow a clear, connected pathway: Primary (EYFS–Year 6) at Tokyo → Secondary boarding (Years 7–11) at Epsom College Malaysia → Sixth Form (Years 12–13) at Malaysia or Epsom College UK. Curriculum alignment between the schools is deliberate, and Tokyo teachers collaborate with Malaysia colleagues as part of that process.The school is pursuing COBIS pre-authorisation as its accreditation pathway. Regulatory approval to operate in Japan has been secured, facilities are confirmed, and early admissions engagement has begun. As this is a founding team, you will have the opportunity to join a project with momentum, not starting from nothing.Location: Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (near Tokyo Station)Start Date: Autumn 2027 (pre-opening from July 2027)Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-termPosition OverviewEpsom College Tokyo is seeking a dedicated and versatile Bilingual Teaching Assistant (English/Japanese) to join our founding team. As we open our doors in Autumn 2027, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of the British National Curriculum within a high-performance, nurturing environment. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the culture of a new preparatory school in the heart of Tokyo.Scope of WorkLearning Support: Work in partnership with class teachers to support the education and care of pupils across EYFS and Primary (Years 1-6).Bilingual Facilitation: Act as a linguistic bridge, assisting pupils who are developing fluency in English and Japanese, and facilitating communication between the school and Japanese-speaking families.Classroom Management: Assist in the preparation of learning resources, classroom displays, and the maintenance of a purposeful learning environment.Supervision: Ensure pupil safety during breaks, outings, and school transitions.Pastoral Care: Promote the wellbeing and inclusion of all pupils, adhering to the school’s safeguarding and behavioral policies.RequirementsLanguage Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and oral) is essential.Academic Background: A minimum of a Diploma or equivalent in Education, Child Development, or a related field.Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young children in a school or educational setting.Skills: Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a patient, “can-do” attitude suitable for a founding school environment.Compensation and BenefitsEpsom College Tokyo offers a competitive package commensurate with the role and the candidate’s experience.
