You will lead on raising standards of attainment and progress across all key stages, ensuring that every student is supported and challenged to achieve their very best. This role is pivotal in driving a culture of high expectations, academic excellence and continuous improvement.The role offers the opportunity to contribute to wider system improvement by working alongside the Headteacher and Trust colleagues to share best practice, support school improvement and strengthen outcomes beyond our own setting.This post is ideally suited to an experienced middle leader ready to step into whole-school leadership, or an established Assistant Headteacher seeking to further develop their strategic impact, contribute to trust-wide priorities, and gain valuable experience in preparation for future senior leadership roles.The successful candidate will:Work in close partnership with the Headteacher to lead whole-school priorities focused on student outcomes, progress and attainment. Provide strategic leadership for assessment, data, curriculum performance and standards, including full oversight of internal and external examinations, ensuring robust, compliant and efficient systems. Ensure examination outcomes are rigorously analysed to inform curriculum planning, drive improvement and strengthen accountability at all levels. Lead the development of a coherent assessment, tracking and reporting system, ensuring data is used effectively to inform teaching, intervention and strategic decisions. Drive a relentless focus on progress, particularly at key thresholds (including 4+ and 5+), securing strong outcomes for all students. Identify and target students on key grade boundaries, implementing precise interventions to secure marginal gains. Work with Curriculum Leaders to evaluate performance, address variation and ensure effective exam preparation across all subjects. Oversee targeted intervention strategies, ensuring they are data-led, timely and impactful. Champion high-quality teaching and learning, aligned with curriculum intent and examination success. Lead integrated analysis of attainment, behaviour and attendance data, identifying barriers and ensuring coordinated support for students at risk of underachievement. Provide clear and actionable performance analysis to staff, governors and Trust colleagues to maintain sharp accountability. Develop staff expertise in data-informed and evidence-based practice, alongside contributing to professional development and leadership capacity. Work collaboratively across the Trust to share best practice and strengthen outcomes. Promote a culture of academic excellence, strong attendance, positive behaviour and outstanding examination outcomes.You will be exceptionally well supported in this role by a highly skilled and experienced team, including a dedicated exam officer and a data manager, who are central to the school’s success. The Exams Officer ensures that all examination processes are delivered with precision, professionalism and full compliance, safeguarding the integrity of outcomes.
