We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour & Attitudes to join our Senior Leadership Team and help shape a positive, nurturing and aspirational school culture. This is more than a leadership role — it’s an opportunity to drive meaningful change, champion inclusive practice and create an environment where pupils and staff can thrive together.As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across behaviour, pastoral care, wellbeing and pupil engagement, ensuring every young person receives the support they need to access learning and achieve success.As Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour & Attitudes, you will lead whole-school strategies that promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and exceptional pastoral care. Working closely with therapeutic and clinical teams, families and external agencies, you’ll create a trauma-informed and relational culture that supports pupils to feel regulated, engaged and ready to learn.You’ll play a central role in shaping school culture, supporting staff development and driving improvement across behaviour, attitudes and personal development.Key Responsibilities:Leading whole-school behaviour, attitudes and pastoral strategiesEmbedding trauma-informed and relational approaches across the schoolUsing data and evidence to drive improvement in behaviour, attendance and wellbeingLeading and maintaining robust safeguarding and pastoral systemsCoaching, supporting and developing staff to promote consistent practiceBuilding strong relationships with pupils, families and external agenciesLeading reintegration, intervention and personalised support pathwaysContributing to whole-school improvement as a key member of the Senior Leadership TeamWho We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who is:Degree qualified in Education, Psychology, or a related fieldAn inspirational and confident leader with experience in behaviour, pastoral or SEND leadershipPassionate about creating inclusive environments where every child can succeedSkilled in trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation and behaviour supportAn exceptional communicator who builds positive relationships easilyCalm, resilient and solution-focused under pressureExperienced in leading teams and driving positive changeDeeply committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeingMotivated to inspire staff and improve outcomes for young peopleA holder of a full UK Driving LicenceAbout UsOpened in 2018, The Wenlock School is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 7–18 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, and associated learning differences.We are building an Outstanding provision – a school that transforms lives through creativity, care, and commitment.
