We are seeking a caring, experienced and highly skilled Learning Support Practitioner to support a warm and sociable child with additional needs within our Prep School.This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and enjoys helping children develop confidence, independence and resilience. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, specialist therapists and the Learning Support Department to ensure the child can fully access learning and school life.The roleWorking as part of a collaborative team, you will:Support a pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.Adapt learning activities and communication approaches to meet individual needs.Implement strategies recommended by specialist professionals.Promote engagement, confidence, organisation and independence.Support emotional regulation and positive social interactions.Facilitate access to learning both in and out of the classroom.Contribute to monitoring progress and reviewing support strategies.Liaise effectively with teachers, therapists and parents as required.We are looking for someone who:Has experience supporting children with additional educational needs in a school setting.Has a strong understanding of child development and barriers to learning.Is confident supporting learning across the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum.Can adapt learning, scaffold tasks and explain concepts in different ways.Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Is patient, calm, flexible and solution-focused.Builds positive relationships whilst maintaining high expectations.Understands the importance of promoting independence and self-confidence.Desirable experienceQualified Teacher Status (QTS), HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.Experience working with children who have communication, learning, attention, physical or sensory needs.Experience implementing recommendations from Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists or other specialist professionals.Experience supporting literacy and numeracy interventions.Knowledge of inclusive classroom practice and adaptive teaching strategies.What we offerA supportive and collaborative Learning Support team.The opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child’s educational journey.Regular access to specialist advice and training.Ongoing professional development opportunities.This is a part-time role working 3 days a week, during term time only.If you are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally, we would love to hear from you.How to ApplyAn application form and full details of the role can be found on the school website https://highfieldandbrookham.co.uk/about/careers/ A letter of application and completed application form including the names and addresses of two referees should be sent to recruitment@highfieldandbrookham.co.ukClosing Date for Applications: Friday 19th JuneWe reserve the right to appoint before the closing date.Safer Recruitment: We are an I.A.P.S. co-educational Boarding and Day Pre-Prep and Prep School for pupils aged 2 to 13.
