Reporting to the Sports Centre Manager and Duty Managers, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the facility.The role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the Sports Centre, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment for all users, including pupils, staff, and visitors.Please submit your application online by 10th July 2026Should you wish to complete an offline application form, or should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the HR team via HR@repton.org.uk.Main ResponsibilitiesCleaning DutiesClean and maintain all areas of the Sports Centre including gyms, studios, sports halls,changing rooms, showers, and toiletsSweep, mop, vacuum, and machine-clean floors as appropriateDust, wipe, and polish surfaces, fixtures, fittings, and equipmentRemove litter and empty bins, ensuring waste is disposed of correctlyClean glazing, mirrors, and internal windows to a high standardInternal Windows & glass balustrades: Wipe marks, fingerprints from glass daily.Hygiene & FacilitiesClean sanitary areas including toilets, urinals, sinks, and showersReplenish consumables such as soap, toilet rolls, and paper towelsEnsure high hygiene standards, particularly in high-use and wet areasIdentify and report any damage, faults, or maintenance issues promptlyWeekly Deep Clean TasksHard-To-Reach Areas: Vacuum or dust behind lockers and underneath heavy benches.Deep Disinfect: Apply descaler to showerheads and tile grout in changing rooms.Ventilation Grilles: Dust ceiling and wall ventilation fans.Inventory Check: Review stock levels for cleaning supplies and consumablesEquipment & SafetyUse cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, following COSHH and Health & SafetyguidelinesOperate machinery such as floor scrubbers or polishers after trainingFollow all site procedures relating to safety, security, and safeguardingReport any accidents, hazards, or incidents immediatelyGeneral DutiesWork independently and as part of the wider facilities teamMaintain a professional and courteous approach when interacting with centre usersSupport the preparation and cleaning of areas for sports activities or eventsCarry out any other reasonable duties as requiredAdditional InformationFlexible approach to duties depending on operational needsThe Ideal CandidateEssentialReliable, punctual, and hardworkingGood attention to detailAbility to work to high cleaning standardsAwareness of hygiene and safety practicesDesirablePrevious experience in a cleaning or facilities roleExperience working in a sports, leisure, or school environmentKnowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicalsAbout Repton SchoolRepton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory and the School today incorporates many of the original buildings from the estate.The School has over one thousand pupils across the Prep and Senior School, making it large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom, yet small enough for individuals to grow and succeed.
