The EAL DepartmentThe EAL Department is critical to all non-native speakers of English at RST. The EAL Department is responsible for:EAL intervention and support, including withdrawal lessons and in-class support;Intensive EAL provision;IGCSE English as a Second language;Preparation of students for English proficiency examinations (e.g. IELTS) as required for university entrance;Staff development and CPD in relation to EALHosting and attending courses and conferences to share expertiseSE@RST – our Saturday English ProgrammeSunday English @ RST in conjunction with the British Learning CentreThe academic curriculum for the August EAL Adventure CampRugby Group / Heddle EAL courses – our RST online EAL course for new teachers / staffRST Online EAL hub in an advisory capacityEnglish language lessons for RST staffCoordinating our multilingual / translanguaging approach and its delivery through Tom Sherrington’s WalkthrusCoordinating with the Heads of EAL in each section of the School so that EAL is front and centre of all we do and that all academic staff understand how important their roles are as EAL teachers as well as subject specialists The Director of EAL will work alongside the Heads of EAL in each section of the School to ensure consistency and alignment of provision. They will also liaise with the Heads of Spanish and Mandarin, English and the Thai languages departments to establish and implement the strategic vision of language provision across the School.Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree (minimum requirement) At least 1 year of experience working with EAL students or in a related educational role Knowledge of the UK curriculum and its application within an international context Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff Ability to design tailored learning plans for diverse student needs Leadership skills with experience or willingness to manage a department team Values and Attitudes:Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued Passion for supporting multilingual learners’ academic growth and personal development Collaborative mindset focused on teamwork across departments Adaptability and openness to continuous professional development Dedication to upholding the school’s ethos of respect, integrity, and excellence If you are enthusiastic about making a positive impact on students’ language acquisition journey within an international setting, we invite you to apply for this exciting leadership opportunity at Rugby School Thailand.
