Available spots for early July (starting around June 29th and until July 13th); part time non residential options in Edinburgh and Brighton Our vision is to create an unforgettable summer school experience for our students. Our students travel from across the world to attend our programmes. Typically, students will receive 15 hours English language tuition per week supplemented with a comprehensive activity programme. We believe the academic programme is fundamental to a successful summer programme. To make sure our students get the most out of their experience with us we need the best and brightest teachers to deliver fun and engaging English lessons. To help you achieve this, we provide every teacher with course books for students and comprehensive teachers books for you to follow, giving you the foundations to teach to the best of your ability! Below are some of the responsibilities you will take on as an EFL Teacher: Prepare and adapt existing materials to suit your students needs and abilities Deliver 32 hours worth of lessons each week, with the aim of achieving the objectives of the syllabus and to the standards set out in your Teacher Handbook and/or the Oxford International Junior Programmes syllabus Manage student behaviour effectively to allow each learner to experience an academically fulfilling environment Encourage student participation through a positive and enthusiastic approach to your work Attend staff meetings, as and when necessary Keep all administration up-to-date. This will include class registers, work records and student reports. These are to be completed in a professional and timely manner, as delegated by the Director of Studies There will be a requirement for you to be observed by a TEFL Q qualified observer. In some circumstances you may also be observed by a group leader This list is not an exhaustive but we hope this information gives you an understanding of the fundamental responsibilities and tasks of the role. To be considered for the role you will need: A TrinityTESOL or CELTA certificate (other TEFL qualifications may be accepted if they have been validated by an external body and include a minimum 6 hours of observed teaching practice) A degree from any discipline Be 18 years old and over Right to work in the UK Be a proficient user of English To be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check Although not essential to the role, it would be great if you have: CELTAYL or YL extension Experience working in a junior residential setting We also look for people that can demonstrate: The ability to deliver engaging and interactive English language lessons Use different strategies for effective classroom management Develop and adapt materials to suit the students needs The ability to implement a variety of teaching strategies and methods Show a flexible approach to your work, along with the ability to cope with changing priorities Have a commitment to fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Why choose Oxford International Junior Programmes?
