PROFILE OF DR JC STEYN
On 31 March 2024, I took early retirement from the Central University of Technology
(CUT) in South Africa. I was a senior lecturer and Internal Auditing Program
Coordinator in the Department: Accounting and Auditing at the CUT since 1999. I was
facilitator of the subjects: Internal Auditing III; Internal Auditing IV; Risk Management
IV; Information Systems Auditing III; Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Simulation.
From 15 May 2024 to 31 October 2024, I was an English teacher at Chiang Kham
Witthayakhom High School in Phayao province, Thailand.
I am a Chartered Accountant (SA), a Certified Internal Auditor Global (CIA), hold a
Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales and a PhD
(with specialisation in Higher Education Studies) from the University of the Free State.
I have 10 years’ industry experience as an accountant and auditor.
I have delivered research papers at various national and international conferences
and published articles in accredited and non-accredited journals and magazines. I
specialise in alternative teaching-learning activities which facilitate deep, constructive
learning in students with a focus on soft skills development. I am also the winner of
the 2018 “Advanced-Career Teaching Award” of the Faculty of Management Sciences
at the CUT. I have received over 30 “unrequested” testimonials (emails) from alumni
students over my career, thanking me for contributing to their successes and making
a positive difference in their lives.
