GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Assistant Head (Early Years) to join the Senior Leadership Team from August 2026. The successful candidate will lead the Early Years phase, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and pupil wellbeing. Job Purpose:As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Head (Early Years) leads the strategic and day-to-day running of the Early Years Department. Working closely with the Head of Prep School, the role focuses on delivering a high-quality curriculum, strong pupil outcomes and a nurturing environment where children thrive.Key Responsibilities:Lead the strategic development and daily management of Early Years.Oversee curriculum planning, delivery and assessment across the phase.Monitor pupil progress and ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning.Line manage and support Early Years staff, including performance management and professional development.Promote a positive team culture and high expectations for behaviour and achievement.Lead safeguarding within Early Years and support pupil wellbeing.Manage the Early Years budget and resources effectively.Build strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.Support transition into and out of Early Years.Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning.Ensure compliance with KHDA, BSO and safeguarding requirements.Skills: Proven leadership experience in Early Years or Primary.Strong understanding of the British curriculum and inspection frameworks.Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; further qualifications desirable.
