POSITION TITLE: Computer Science Teacher
REPORTS TO: STEM Department Head
JOB DESCRIPTION:
(VIS) is seeking a qualified and passionate Computer Science / STEM teacher.
This teacher must be able to teach a range of subjects, including AP Cybersecurity/ AP Computer Science, Engineering Design & Analysis (EDA), Maker Space Program, and extracurricular STEM/engineering programs.
The teacher should be comfortable working with students across Grades 6-12 and supporting both introductory and advanced learners.
VIS is a small school that believes in even smaller class sizes and a wide variety of options.
New faculty should be prepared to teach a broad range of topics and to change topics from year to year as we balance the talents of our curriculum teams with the needs of students.
All VIS teachers are responsible for providing a Kingdom-minded educational atmosphere where each student has the opportunity to grow and fulfill his or her learning abilities in the classroom.
The teacher is responsible for organizing well-planned lessons and implementing an instructional program that engages students through effective teaching strategies, hands-on projects, and technology-based learning experiences so that students can develop their God-given academic abilities.
The ideal candidate should be able to support students in areas such as coding, cybersecurity concepts, engineering design, robotics, prototyping, maker-space tools, and project-based STEM learning, while also contributing to the broader development of VIS’s computer science and engineering pathway.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a program where the language of instruction is English is required.
Candidates must also have either completed a teacher licensure program in an English-speaking country or have at least five years of teaching experience in the relevant subject area.
Teachers at VIS are expected to support the mission of Christian education by integrating a Biblical worldview into their teaching and interactions with students.
They should demonstrate professional integrity, a strong work ethic, and serve as positive role models for students.
An active Christian faith, evidenced through personal spiritual growth and participation in a church community, is essential.
Teachers are also expected to communicate effectively and collaborate well within the school community.
