Role OverviewCheam School is seeking a candidate to lead the Maths Department for September 2026 or January 2027. This role is a full time post and a permanent role.An outstanding and inspiring practitioner, the successful applicant will have expert curriculum knowledge and an insatiable appetite for learning. We are looking for someone who is able to build our pupils’ confidence and curiosity, enjoying the opportunity to develop their practice in this ambitious and successful school.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a desire to ensure that the Maths curriculum is engaging and exciting, taking responsibility for the delivery of the subject in Years 3-8, whilst working closely with the Head of Pre-Prep and Pre-Prep Maths Coordinator. Applicants will be expected to show that they have relevant educational leadership and management experience. There are no set criteria for this and potential is important.Key DutiesLeading the Maths Department across the whole schoolTeaching of Years 5-8 Maths with the ability to teach Maths to other year groups as requiredContributing to the academic direction of the school as a member of the Academic CommitteeLine managing the Junior Maths Coordinator and the Pre-Prep Maths CoordinatorOverseeing the preparation of pupils for external examinations in Maths at Year 6 and Year 8Coaching of Years 3-8 Sport, depending upon experience and expertisePossible responsibility for the pastoral care of a Form Group About Cheam SchoolCheam was founded in 1645 and is one of the oldest prep schools in the world.
