Salary will also be dependent on qualifications and experienceApplication deadline: Monday 20 April 2026Early applications are encouraged and the School reserves the right to interview before the closing date in order to secure the right appointmentInterviews: Week Beginning Monday 27 April 2026Overview of the RoleThey are looking to appoint an innovative and dynamic Head of Psychology on a full or part-time (three or four days a week) basis, to teach A Level AQA Psychology to their Lower and Upper Sixth groups and lead this successful department. The appointment is temporary as a maternity cover and is expected to be for the whole academic year. Details of the RoleThe successful candidate will teach Psychology to Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth A level groups, be responsible for a sixth form tutor group, and take part in the dynamic extra-curricular life of the school. The Psychology Department has a dedicated classroom in their main school building, which is close to the school’s multi-purpose library, a space that is used extensively by students. All classrooms in Senior School have interactive white boards with full wireless internet access for all pupils. All pupils have laptops and blended learning using various digital media is a strong feature of what they do. The school uses iSAMS and the Google Suite of Applications, including Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Drive and Google Sheets and a range of educationally-approved AI platforms such as Magic School and UpLearn. Whilst experience in the use of these products would be advantageous, full training will be given as necessary to the successful candidate. Academic lessons are taught from Monday to Friday allowing time on Saturday mornings for their ACE Programme (Academic and Co-Curricular Enrichment). In the life of their busy boarding school, teachers are currently expected to deliver enrichment activities on approximately 50% of Saturday mornings. Their Head of Psychology has run a particularly successful Forensic Science enrichment activity and they would welcome further innovation beyond the classroom from the successful candidate.The school believes in professional and personal development, and will seek to support the successful candidate in all areas. They have connections with the Teachers’ Development Trust and the Chartered College of Teaching, and seek to offer a wide range of professional development opportunities to all staff. They aim to ensure that their pupils are receiving the best possible experience in the classroom, while their staff are supported in developing their careers.Teaching and learning at the school received high praise in their last ISI inspection (May 2024).
