INSTRUCTIONAL Responsibilities Design and implement instructional plans that are engaging and which meet appropriate curricular outcomes of the content areas; Differentiate instruction in order to meet all students’ needs; Apply knowledge of child development and cognitive theory in lesson and

unit design; Are knowledgeable about the assigned content areas and are aware of current trends in pedagogy; Are knowledgeable about information resources for the content areas and the use of technology; Create, maintain and implement lesson plans in conjunction with

the school’s curriculum. Use a variety of activities that are consistent with curricular outcomes, student ability, and learning styles; Design, develop, implement and monitor unit planning and curriculum consistent with the outcomes, philosophy and mission of the school; Are responsible

for communicating with the management team regarding the evaluation and purchase of texts and materials; Engage in research based professional growth activities. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Create an environment of respect and ongoing positive communication in the classroom; Establish a culture of

learning; Manage student behavior with firmness and fairness in conjunction with MIS policy and regulations outlined in the student handbook; Use effective routines and procedures to create an organized and positive learning environment. ASSESSMENT Use established criteria, standards and current

practices that are congruent with instructional goals and curricular outcomes; Make students and parents aware of assessment expectations by providing the criteria (i.e. through rubrics) in advance of assignments, projects, etc.; Encourage student progress; Maintain accurate documentation of achievement; Use

assessment for learning.
