About Epsom College TokyoEpsom College Tokyo is a new British international Preparatory School opening in Autumn 2027, located in Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, minutes from Tokyo Station. The school delivers the British National Curriculum to children aged 3–11, forming part of the global EDUC8 Group alongside Epsom College UK (est. 1855) and Epsom College Malaysia.Pupils progressing through Epsom Tokyo follow a clear, connected pathway: Primary (EYFS–Year 6) at Tokyo → Secondary boarding (Years 7–11) at Epsom College Malaysia → Sixth Form (Years 12–13) at Malaysia or Epsom College UK. Curriculum alignment between the schools is deliberate, and Tokyo teachers collaborate with Malaysia colleagues as part of that process.The school is pursuing COBIS pre-authorisation as its accreditation pathway. Regulatory approval to operate in Japan has been secured, facilities are confirmed, and early admissions engagement has begun. This is a founding team opportunity as you will be joining a project with momentum, not starting from nothing.Location: Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (near Tokyo Station)Start Date: Autumn 2027 (pre-opening July 2027)Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-termPosition OverviewEpsom College Tokyo is seeking skilled and dedicated KS1 (Years 1 & 2) and KS2 (Years 3-6) class teachers to join our founding team. This is a unique opportunity to help establish the culture and standards of a new British international Preparatory School in the heart of Tokyo. You will be responsible for the academic and pastoral progress of your class, delivering an engaging curriculum within a values-led environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across all areas of the KS1 or KS2 British National Curriculum.Pupil Progress: Take full responsibility for the academic and pastoral development of your pupils.Bilingual Collaboration: Work closely with bilingual Teaching Assistants to support pupils, many of whom come from Japanese-speaking families, and facilitate language development.Founding Contribution: Participate in pre-opening development, assemblies, enrichment activities, and school events to build the school community.Global Alignment: Collaborate with colleagues at Epsom College Malaysia to ensure curriculum alignment and smooth transitions for Year 7 pupils.Person SpecificationEssential:Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent) and degree-level education.Relevant classroom experience in a primary setting.Strong subject knowledge and the ability to plan and deliver effective lessons.Commitment to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing, and inclusive practice.Resilience, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit suitable for a founding school phase.Desirable:Experience in an international or British curriculum school outside the UK.Experience supporting multilingual learners or EAL pupils.Familiarity with COBIS accreditation standards.Compensation and BenefitsEpsom College Tokyo offers a competitive international package commensurate with the seniority of each role and the candidate’s experience.
