Teaching and Learning: To work within the ethos and vision of Staines Preparatory School, under the direction of the Nursery Teacher and Assistant Head of Lower School. To be involved in all aspects of providing care and education for children aged between rising three and four years oldWork with Sunflowers’ team, supporting the delivery of a curriculum based on learning through activity, within a secure, stimulating and caring environmentPromote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusionBy becoming a Key Person for a small group of children, you will support the learning needs of all pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievementPromote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learningUse effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and proceduresSupport class teachers with maintaining good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environmentTo undertake written observations and assessments and assist in maintaining pupil’s records (seesaw)Supervise and assist the children in the dining hall at lunchtimesHelp organise the Nursery to maintain a stimulating and safe learning environmentUse ICT skills to advance pupils’ learningUndertake any other relevant duties given by the Nursery teacherPlanning:You will be fully involved in planning and delivering developmentally appropriate activities.Contribute to effective assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress as appropriate to the level of the roleRead and understand lesson plans shared prior to lessons, if availablePrepare resources for activitiesWorking with Staff, Parents/Carers and relevant professionals:Communicate effectively with other staff members and pupils, and with parents and carers under the direction of the Nursery teacherCommunicate your knowledge and understanding of pupils to other school staff and education, health and social care professionals, so that informed decision making can take place on intervention and provisionWorking with Staff, Parents/Carers and relevant professionals cont.Contribute to meetings with parents and carers by providing feedback on pupil progress, attainment and barriers to learning, as directed by the Nursery TeacherWith the class teacher, keep other professionals accurately informed of performance and progress, or concerns they may have about the pupils they work withCollaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the schoolDevelop effective professional relationships with colleaguesAttend stay and play sessions for new Nursery startersHealth and SafetyPromote the safety and wellbeing of pupils, and help to safeguard pupils’ wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our school’s child protection policyLook after children who are upset or have had accidentsProfessional DevelopmentAttend Inset Days and other relevant staff trainingHelp keep their own knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on their own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectivenessTake opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the schoolTake part in the school’s appraisal proceduresPlus any other duties as detailed by the Headteacher.Essential Criteria:Commitment to
