Job Specification: PE/Swim Intern (suited for new graduates) start August 2026Department: Physical EducationKey Responsibilities:The PE/Swimming Intern reports directly to the Head of PE and is responsible as part of a team for the effective coaching and teaching of PE/swimming. In particular, the PE/Swim Intern;● is responsible to the Line Manager assigned by The Principal. In normal circumstances, this will be the Head of Departmentin a subject area of specialist interest to the Intern;● will work closely with other school leaders as applicable. For example, it may be appropriate for the Intern to spend timewith the Assistant Principal. Vice principal, Year Team Leaders..Tasks:The PE/Swim Intern will;● provide PE/swim support in the PE curriculum/ sports teams and swim team;● be responsible for the plan, delivery and evaluation of a season plan for an allocated PE/swim team/squad;● be responsible for the testing and evaluation of the PE/swim team/squad;● be required to attend sports team competitions, which may occur at the weekend or afterschool;● be required to attend all training sessions for their allocated PE/swim team/squad, this may include lunch times or afterschool;● play a lead role in developing the Learning Environment / Display in assigned subject areas;● support teachers with planning and administrative tasks;● where appropriate have the opportunity to team teach and lead classes;● support school leaders in other tasks as requested.Professional Expectations:The PE/Swim Intern should have the following qualities;● be a graduate in a sports science/sports studies field;● hold a recognised swim teaching or coaching qualification (would be an advantage);● hold a recognised lifeguarding qualification (would be an advantage);● be a strong team player with a clear understanding of his / her professional responsibilities;● will provide a varied and creative approach to EAL provision;● will have current in-depth knowledge of EAL issues and strategies and demonstrate a strong enthusiasm to keep up-to-date with developments in the field;● will have a strong commitment to teamwork and be highly pro-active in working with staff, students and parents;● will demonstrate a keen eye for detail in assessing students;● will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with parents, teachers and students;● will have excellent organisational skills;● will pay close attention to the Health and Safety issues associated with EAL.Child Safeguarding:Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
