The Chinese & Chinese Studies Subject Leader is the academic leader responsible for overseeing both the Chinese Language and Chinese Studies curricula. This role will focus on integrating the two subjects through unit and project design to provide students with a more coherent and immersive learning experience in language and culture. This position leads the team of Grade-Level Chinese Pedagogical Leaders, ensuring effective implementation of curriculum standards, continuous improvement of teaching quality, teacher professional development, and home-school collaboration. Reporting to the Head of Curriculum & Learning contributes to whole-school curriculum planning and resource management.Curriculum Leadership & Standards ImplementationØ Lead Curriculum Implementation- Ensure daily teaching of Chinese and Chinese Studies strictly follows the YCYW established curriculum framework and standards.- Regularly review teaching plans across all grade levels to ensure coherence, logical progression, and age-appropriateness of content.- Guide the team in integrating the school’s educational philosophy (e.g., holistic education, inquiry-based learning, HPL) into curriculum design and classroom practice.Ø Evaluate Implementation Quality- Establish a regular curriculum evaluation mechanism, conducting a comprehensive curriculum review at least once per semester.- Collect data through classroom observations (covering each teacher at least once per semester), lesson plan reviews, and student work analysis.- Prepare curriculum implementation quality reports, identifying areas of strength and areas for improvement, and submit an annual curriculum evaluation summary to the Head of Curriculum & LearningØ Drive Continuous Improvement- Develop an annual curriculum enhancement plan based on evaluation results, student data, and cutting-edge educational research.- Lead the team in regularly updating teaching resources to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant.- Monitor the implementation of improvement measures and make necessary adjustments throughout the academic year.Leading the Grade-Level Chinese Pedagogical leadersØ Guide Curriculum Mapping and Project Design- Work with Chinese Pedagogical leaders to create the curriculum mapping for each grade, ensure the units throughout whole years covers curriculum standards, and all standards are appropriately allocated and organized.- Guide Chinese Pedagogical leaders in designing unit plans and project-based learning activities, ensuring spiral progression across grades.- Convene a meeting with the Grade-Level Chinese Pedagogical leader weekly to review and support the curriculum implementation and project teaching.Ø Establish Consistent and Grade-Appropriate Standards- Standardize the requirements and design for the use of teaching-related documents, collaborate with pedagogical leaders to address grade-specific needs, and provide teachers with practical templates.- organize cross-grade meetings with pedagogical leaders to discuss the standardization and differentiation of teaching tasks across grades, ensuring consistency, continuity, and grade-level appropriateness.- establish documentation protocols for each grade, standardize submission requirements, and coordinate with pedagogical leaders to guide teachers in uploading necessary teaching documents as required.Ø Ensure Team Collaboration- Build a repository of exemplary teaching practices, collecting outstanding lesson designs and student work for team reference.- Coordinate solutions for cross-grade transition issues to ensure students’ smooth progression from one grade to the next.- Organize cross-grade student activities to enrich their learning experiences.Standardizing Student Data Processes- Collaborate with grade-level Chinese pedagogical leaders to establish Data Collection Procedure and standardize data collection frequency, scope.- Work with grade-level Chinese pedagogical leaders to regularly
