This is about being the steady hand, the encouraging smile, and the person a young learner trusts to guide them through the good days (and the tougher ones too).As a Pupil Support Worker, you’ll work side-by-side with teachers and pupils to build a calm, nurturing, and positive classroom environment where students can thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.You’ll:Provide individual and small group support in lessons across a range of subjectsHelp implement tailored educational programmes and behaviour plansSupport pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, encouraging positive relationships and self-beliefPrepare learning materials and resources to bring lessons to lifeAccompany pupils and staff on educational visits and enrichment activitiesOccasionally support with transporting pupils (e.g. after detentions or school trips)Keep clear records of student progress and wellbeing, contributing to a holistic picture of each learnerWhat We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who:Has Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)Has a calm, patient and caring approach—especially in challenging momentsLoves working with young people and is passionate about making learning accessible for everyoneCan build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff alikeHas experience working with secondary-age pupils (ideal but not essential)Can work as part of a team but is also confident taking initiativeBelieves in the potential of every student—and won’t give up on themAbout the SchoolBelmont Secondary School is an independent specialist school in Rawtenstall for boys aged 11–18 with SEMH needs, easily commutable from Bury, Burnley and surrounding areas.We provide a trauma-informed, nurturing environment where every pupil feels safe, understood, and supported.
