Part-time Resident NurseReporting to: Head of Health Services (Clinical)Hours of work: 27.5hrs per week plus on calls, 36 weeks a year, term time.Salary: £23,856 basic salary plus £7,100 on call allowance per annumOnsite accommodation providedJob SummaryTo provide a clinically effective, high quality service of nursing care to pupils and first aid care to the school community. The post holder is expected to work in partnership with pupils, parents, School personnel, GPs and other appropriate agencies to carry out health surveillance, health promotion and other public health initiatives and will ideally be experienced in working at NHS Band 6.About CulfordCulford is a co-educational independent boarding and day school situated in 480 acres of Suffolk countryside. The 700 pupils range from 2 -18yrs. There are approx. 270 boarders spread between four boarding houses, Cadogan houses boys and girls aged 7-13yrs. Edwards and Cornwallis house boys aged 13-18yrs and Jocelyn and Fitzgerald houses girls aged 13-18yrs.The school aims to provide its pupils with a broad education and has an extensive extra curricular programme, including CCF and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. The school has excellent facilities including many rugby, cricket and hockey pitches, and an all weather playing surface. There is an on-site sports centre which boasts a 25m indoor pool, outdoor and indoor tennis courts and a gym. Staff benefit from free membership to the sports centre.The purpose built Health Centre has a six bedded Sanatorium which is utilised when pupils require isolation from the boarding houses due to ill health. The Health Centre is staffed by a team which includes nurses, HCA’s and an Administrator, in addition a local GP provides support as the School Medical Officer. There are two GP clinics held each week in addition to drop-in clinics led by the nurse throughout the day. The school counsellor’s holds sessions twice a week at the Health Centre. The school also utilises the services of a local clinical psychologist as needed.Role – Resident NurseThis is a part-time, residential position and the post holder is expected to manage their owntime, working flexibly as part of the nursing team to meet the needs of the service.The working hours are term time, 36 weeks a year, which includes INSET days plus 2 weeks to prepare for the start of term.
