This role works collaboratively with teachers, senior leaders, students, and parents to ensure the library is a vibrant, inclusive, and well-resourced learning hub that promotes literacy, research skills, and a lifelong love of reading.The role contributes to students’ academic success, curiosity, and wellbeing through access to high-quality resources and engaging reading experiences across the whole school community. As a key member of the school team, you will help shape the school’s vision in alignment with the mission of Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City, upholding the values and legacy of our founding institution, Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet.If you are a passionate, organised, and innovative librarian with a commitment to fostering a reading-rich environment, we would be delighted to hear from you.The Role Job Title: Librarian Reporting to: Deputy Head Senior (Academic) Library Management and DevelopmentManage and develop the school library as a central hub for learning, research, and reading for pleasure.Curate, organise, and maintain a diverse and up-to-date collection of physical and digital resources to support the British curriculum and wider reading.Oversee cataloguing, classification, and circulation systems to ensure efficient library operations.Manage the library budget, including procurement of books, digital resources, and subscriptions.Create an engaging, welcoming, and inclusive library environment that encourages student use and independent learning.Teaching and Learning SupportCollaborate with teachers to support curriculum delivery through appropriate library resources and research guidance.Deliver library orientation sessions and teach information literacy, research skills, and digital literacy across year groups.Support students in developing independent learning habits, critical thinking, and effective research skills.Promote reading for pleasure through book recommendations, displays, and targeted support for different reading abilities and interests.Support literacy initiatives and whole-school reading strategies.Student Engagement and EnrichmentOrganise and lead reading initiatives, author visits, book fairs, and events such as World Book Day.Develop reading programmes, clubs, and competitions to foster a love of literature.Support students in selecting appropriate reading materials that challenge and engage them.Encourage student voice and involvement in library development (e.g., student librarians or reading ambassadors).Parental Engagement and CommunicationPromote reading culture
