This is a rewarding opportunity to use your subject expertise to inspire students with additional needs, helping them develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learningAs a Science Tutor, you’ll deliver engaging and accessible Science learning experiences designed around each student’s strengths, interests and individual needs. Working with individuals and small groups, you’ll adapt your teaching to ensure students can access the curriculum, develop confidence and experience success. You’ll create stimulating learning opportunities that encourage exploration, critical thinking and independence while supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.You’ll work closely with colleagues across education, care and therapeutic teams to provide a consistent, nurturing approach that enables every learner to thrive.What You’ll Be DoingPlan and deliver engaging Science lessons for individual students and small groups.Monitor, assess and report on student progress, adapting learning to maximise achievement.Support the implementation of the School Development Plan and contribute to continuous improvement.Brief and support Learning Support Assistants and colleagues to ensure effective delivery of learning.Build positive relationships that promote confidence, resilience and self-regulation.Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet individual learning needs and abilities.Support students to develop independence, curiosity and a love of discovery.Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of every student.Work collaboratively as part of the school’s multidisciplinary team, maintaining strong communication with colleagues, families and care teams.Keep up to date with developments in Science education, SEND practice and autism-informed approaches.About YouWe’re looking for someone who is:Passionate about Science and inspiring young people to achieve their potential.Experienced in planning, delivering and teaching engaging lessons.Able to tailor teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.Patient, empathetic and committed to supporting students with additional needs.An excellent communicator who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.Skilled in managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.Confident using IT and maintaining accurate records and documentation.Organised, proactive and able to coordinate learning effectively.Committed to continuous professional development and willing to undertake further training.In possession of a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).About Us Norton College is a specialist independent provider that aims to positively support young people who have a range of complex learning needs through vocational courses and bespoke learning packages.Acorn Education offers rewarding careers and meaningful challenges while making a real difference in young people’s lives.
