Hartland International School seeks to appoint an exceptional Teacher of Mathematics (Secondary) to support our expansion and provision across this phase of the school.Hartland has established a reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and leadership in the regio with a student body of just over 2200 students from nearly 110 nationalities. By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in Mathematics by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all. Mathematics at our school is taught across all Key Stages with a focus on foundational skills, high achievement, and a passion for problem-solving. In Years 7 to 9 (Key Stage 3), we offer a carefully structured curriculum that builds essential mathematical skills, with differentiated support to meet varied learning needs. Every student engages with core content, ensuring a solid mathematical foundation for all abilities.In Key Stage 4, students follow the Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A Higher syllabus. For our top performing Year 11 students, we offer the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics, giving them early exposure to advanced concepts. The mathematics department consistently delivers outstanding results, with 100% of students achieving Grade 4 or higher and 75% achieving Grade 6 or higher. Key Stage 5 offers students Edexcel A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, with a strong focus on mechanics modules. Mathematics is among the most popular subjects in Year 12, where we run four separate A-level classes to support our students’ diverse interests and ambitions.Our department has eight dedicated Mathematics classrooms, each equipped with interactive whiteboards and wall-mounted whiteboard surfaces that encourage collaborative, multi-step problem-solving. Here, students tackle complex problems together, fostering connections between topics and reinforcing critical thinking skills.Beyond the classroom, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities that include extension clubs, puzzle clubs, and preparatory sessions for external competitions such as the UKMT and Maths Olympiads. These experiences enrich students’ understanding, inspire a love for mathematics, and empower them to excel both academically and competitively.The successful candidate will:• Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification• Have experience of teaching Mathematics in the UK or in an international setting• Ideally be able to teach both Pure and Applied Mathematics at A Level, however applications from candidates who have taught either one of these will be considered.• We would welcome applications from individuals
