Role Summary:Chepstow House School is an established 3-form entry, Coed Prep with a nursery attached and outstanding facilities within the Notting Hill Gate area. Chepstow House aims to discover the best in every child and challenge them to go beyond their expectations.Chepstow House School is currently looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2026. The working hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. You may have one or two days a week where additional time is needed after school to assist with clubs. These duties will take place beyond the stated school hours.The Teaching Assistant will be expected too: Interact and support children (under direction of the teacher) in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning.To work with class teacher in preparing work, putting up displays and assisting as required within the classroomSupervising breaks and lunch time play.To take responsibility for hearing the children read on a daily basis or as part of the guided reading.If necessary, updating individual reading records and monitoring progress alongside the class teacher.To conduct lessons (if required) according to the agreed policy and syllabus.To contribute fully to the extracurricular activities and life of the school.Key Responsibilities:Morning duties including: Ensuring that all children are safe in the classroom/hall/playground and never unsupervised and that they do not leave the classroom/hall/playground without prior permission, Setting up classroom/playground between 8:00am and 8:30am and being constantly aware of the children and not being distracted by other activities which could lead to negligence.Children’s lunch and playtime duties including: Responsibility for supervising playtime, where in handling behaviour and disputes needs to be managed before children return to class and responsibility for supervising playtime, where in handling behaviour and disputes needs to be managed before children return to classReading reception and KS1 duties including: Hearing each child read every day or take guided reading groups, as requested by the class teacher and making sure the reading scheme is kept in good order and the reading files are up to date on each child.Reading KS2 duties including: Hearing individual children read, where requested by the class teacher and playing reading and/or spelling games with individual children as directed by the teacher.End of the day duties including: Ensure that reading folders go home with the children every day with a new book, if one is required, and any homework or letters and a ensuring the children leave the school properly dressed in their hats, blazers/coats, check the cloakroom area is left tidyOther duties include: Plan and teach some lessons supervised by class teacher, attend staff meetings and staff training, help teacher with support groups, carry out other related duties and responsibilities at the school as may be reasonably allocated, as the need arises, by the class teacher, head
