Key Purpose of the Role:Lead and coordinate the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the College.Develop and oversee effective support structures to meet the academic and emotional needs of learners.Ensure compliance with examination access arrangements and relevant policies.Manage, support, and guide Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).Champion inclusive teaching and learning practices across departments.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure personalised support plans are implemented effectively.Monitor student progress and adapt provision in response to ongoing needs and assessments.Promote a culture of empathy, inclusion, and high expectations for all students.Key Responsibilities:1. SEN Provision & Student SupportOversee the identification, assessment, and provision for students with SEN across Key Stages.Develop and review Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and ensure personalised support strategies are in place.Collaborate with teachers to adapt learning strategies that meet students’ needs and promote independence.2. Access Arrangements & ExamsHave a strong working knowledge of access arrangements for public examinations (IGCSEs, A Levels, IB, BTEC, etc.).Coordinate, complete, and submit the required documentation and evidence for access arrangements in accordance with exam board regulations (e.g. CAIE, Edexcel, AQA).Ensure all relevant testing, record-keeping, and deadlines are met and communicated effectively.3. LSA Management & DeploymentLine manage the team of Learning Support Assistants, including:Recruitment and induction of new LSAsTimetable allocation and deploymentPerformance monitoring and supportProvide ongoing training, guidance, and mentoring to LSAs to ensure they are effectively supporting student outcomes in and beyond the classroom.4. Parent & Stakeholder EngagementMeet regularly with parents to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.Act as a key point of contact for families of students with SEN, promoting a collaborative and transparent approach.Liaise with external professionals (e.g. psychologists, therapists) when necessary.5. Staff Training & DevelopmentLead and deliver CPD sessions for academic staff on inclusive teaching strategies, differentiation, and SEN awareness.Support teachers with planning and implementing effective accommodations within lessons.6. Policy, Compliance & DevelopmentReview, contribute to, and improve the school’s SEN policy, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory changes.Maintain up-to-date records of all SEN students and ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies.Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEN support and provision across the school.Key Skills & Attributes:Deep understanding of a range of learning needs and intervention strategiesStrong organisational and administrative skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication abilitiesLeadership, team-building, and mentoring capabilitiesAbility to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholdersQualifications & Experience:A recognised teaching qualification and/or postgraduate qualification in SEN (e.g., PGCert in SEN, NPQH SEN or NASENCO)Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, including SEN coordination or support rolesProven experience managing or supporting access arrangements with familiarity in documentation and exam board processesExperience in leading or working with a team of LSAs preferredAdditional Qualification:A qualified assessor for access arrangements, with the expertise to identify and recommend appropriate accommodations for external exams such as IGCSEs, A/AS Levels, and BTECs.Interested candidates are invited to submit a detailed CV, a cover letter, and contact details of two professional referees.Epsom College in Malaysia is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
