Required Degrees: Bachelor’s degree Fields of Expertise: ESL/EFL, ESL to Children, Inclusion, Special Needs, Coaching, Teacher Mentor Details: Inclusion Support | Instructional Coach | Curriculum Design | Lakeside International School | Costa Rica Do you believe that every learner belongs, that every teacher can grow, and that curriculum should be alive – purposeful, integrated, and built around real children? Do you want to be part of building something, not just running something that already exists? If so, we want to talk to you. Lakeside International School is a growing international school of 400+ students in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica – 15 minutes from the Liberia International Airport and 10 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in Central America. We are a student-centered, whole-child learning community with a clear philosophy and the energy to match it. We are also honest: we are a school in development. Our specialist departments are emerging, not established. The people who join us in these roles will not be stepping into a finished system – they will be helping to create one. If that excites you, read on. We are hiring for July 2026. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We have three open positions. They are distinct roles, but the person we are looking for in each one shares the same core qualities: deeply student-centered, collaborative by nature, culturally sensitive, and genuinely energized by the idea of inventing new ways of doing and thinking alongside a committed team. INCLUSION SUPPORT This role is for someone who understands that inclusion is not a program, it is a philosophy. You will work alongside classroom teachers to identify, support, and advocate for learners with diverse needs, helping to shape a school culture where every child is genuinely seen. You will be helping to establish what inclusion looks like at Lakeside, which means you need to be as comfortable with uncertainty and creativity as you are with best practice. You bring practical experience with differentiation, learning differences, and ELL support. You are a bridge-builder — between students and teachers, between families and the school, between what a child needs and what the classroom can offer. INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT COACH This role is for someone who is as passionate about teacher growth as they are about student learning. You understand that the most powerful lever in any school is an empowered, reflective teacher, and you know how to help educators get there without making them feel judged or managed. At Lakeside, you will be helping to define what instructional coaching looks like in our context, working within a culturally diverse staff community and a school that is actively developing its own professional learning culture. You give feedback that lands. You build trust quickly. You hold high expectations warmly. Experience with coaching cycles, instructional frameworks, or professional learning communities is a strong advantage. Bilingualism English/Spanish strong advantage. CURRICULUM DESIGN SUPPORT This role is for someone who thinks carefully about what we teach, why we teach it, and how it connects, and who is ready to roll up their sleeves and build. You will support the development of integrated, thematic, and conceptually rich curriculum that reflects our school’s values and meets the needs of our diverse learners. This is not a role for someone who arrives with a finished framework and implements it. It is a role for someone who can co-create, adapt, and iterate alongside teachers and leadership. You understand backwards design, language-sensitive curriculum, and the importance of coherence across year levels. Experience in multilingual or international school contexts is highly valued. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN ALL THREE ROLES A genuine growth mindset — you model the learning you ask of others Flexibility and a comfort with ambiguity — things are being built, and you will be part of building them Cultural sensitivity and an ability to work and communicate across diverse communities Experience working with English Language Learners and a strong differentiation toolkit High English proficiency — bilingual English/Spanish is a significant advantage A Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus International school experience is an advantage, but not a requirement — alignment with our philosophy matters more WHY GUANACASTE Meaningful specialist work in a school that will value what you bring — in one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth. Warm weather, wildlife, surf, and a pace of life that reminds you why balance matters. Salary is competitive within Costa Rica.
