The role: Assistant Head (Assessment) for the Junior SchoolThe Assistant Head (Assessment) is a member of the Junior Leadership Team and is primarily responsible for the assessment of children throughout the Junior School.The Assistant Headteacher (Assessment) leads the development, implementation, and analysis of student assessment data to track progress, inform curriculum planning, and raise academic achievement. They ensure accurate, timely data collection, monitor pupilperformance, challenge underperformance, and report this to the Junior Leadership Team.About us:St. Paul’s was founded in 1926 and was the first school in South America to receive accreditation from the UK government as a British School Oversees. Our exceptional facilities place teaching and learning at the heart of the school.School ValuesAll staff are expected to conduct themselves in line with the school’s values which are:KINDNESS, INTEGRITY, ASPIRATION, INCLUSION, RESPONSIBILITY, ADVENTUREMain Responsabilities of the PostAssessment Strategy: Determine, implement, and review an effective assessment framework using best practices.Data Analysis: Interpret internal/external data (e.g., PUMA and PIRA results, test data) to provide reports to the Junior Leadership Team (JLT) and governors.Monitoring Progress: Identify student achievement trends and create strategies to address gaps through intervention.Reporting: Manage the assessment calendar to track and communicate student attainment to parents and staff.Management● Deputises for the Deputy Head – Academic● Keeps the Head informed and brings problems to her● Attends JLT meetings and contributes to discussions about school wide issues.● Liaises with Senior School Assistant Head about assessment issues● Provides an assessment link between the Head and staff● Helps oversee the induction of new staff● Assists with staff recruitment● Assists with the production of the Junior School timetable and Teaching/ Class Assistant Allocation● Co-Chairs Pupil Progress meetings● Conducts Appraisals according to the schedule● Co-Leads the Teaching Assistant/Class Assistant weekly meetings and organises training updates during these time with the Head of Learning Support and other relevant staff● Keeps minutes for JLT when required● Takes school assemblies when advisedAssessmentOrders and organises all assessment papersOrganises and conducts external assessments including Taster days and overseas assessmentsManages data tracking softwareUpdates the Assessment and monitoring policyWrites assessment timetablesManages screeners in consultation with the SENDCoOversees pupil targets and the tracking of progressDataManages pupil profile dataMeets with staff to review pupil progress data on a termly basisOrganises ISI dataAnalyses summative and formative assessment data and reports to relevant parties including for JLT and GovernorsCollates data from assessment weeks and meet with relevant staff – HLP, SEND etc.Tracks effort and attainment grades to monitor pupil progress on
