We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic estates operative to assist the team with the general condition, maintenance, and upkeep of all the school’s infrastructure, which includes the King’s College School buildings and grounds.Main Duties and Responsibilitiesupkeep of hard surfaces, footpaths, and roadways, using the road sweeper and jet washundertaking minor repair tasks, particularly related to signs, fixtures, and fittingskeeping the gardens and footpaths clear and free from littermanaging and disposal of wasteaccessing the site maintenance ticketing system to pick up tasksgeneral support for events and activitiesassistingexternal contractors with appropriate taskswith routine maintenance of the school minibuseswith the maintenance of carpets and furniturewith room changes and clearing roomswith fire emergencies by carrying out dutiesas set out in the school’s policiesemergency situations e.g. school closures dueto adverse weather conditionsseasonal work including gritting and snow clearanceother departments within the Estates teamundertaking general duties and dealing with estates issues as directed by the site managermaintaining gardens and lawns as instructedWimbledon Common Preparatory SchoolThe estates operative will support Wimbledon Common Preparatory School for two days per week, helping to maintain a clean, safe and well‑presented site.Duties will include:Maintain a clean, safe and well‑presented school siteCarry out daily site inspectionsUpkeep of grounds and playground areasSet up the hall and assist with lunch arrangementsProvide practical support during drop‑off, pick‑up and school eventsComplete weekly perimeter cleaning and basic maintenance tasksCarry out gardening duties and minor repairsProvide ad‑hoc support for assemblies, workshops, performances and sports eventsThe successful candidate will have:a logical approach to solving problemsthe ability to mend machinery and make small repairsthe ability to work well as part of a teamthe ability to organise your own workload and meet deadlinesa flexible and enthusiastic approach to workthe ability to work without supervision and prioritise workloadbasic IT skillsgood verbal communication skillsthe ability to work at heights – training provideddriving licence essentialKing’s is one of the most successful schools in the world, with outstanding academic results, first-class pastoral care and a vibrant co-curriculum.
