Discovery College is searching for an experienced educator to fill the full-time Primary Teacher with Arts Specialism (Drama & Theatre) position (starting Aug 2026). This role will be on a one-year finite contract.Job SummaryThe main role of the the Primary Teacher with Arts Specialism (Drama & Theatre) is to maximise student learning and development by planning, preparing and teaching drama as both a discrete subject and an integrated component of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The teacher will meet students’ individual learning needs while achieving specific student outcomes and promoting creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking through drama.ResponsibilitiesUse own professional role to ensure that the College is able to deliver on the 5 DC Outcomes for every studentPlan lessons and sequences of lessons some of which are integrated (to meet students’ individual learning needs and to ensure students’ progression).Use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and learning and classroom management Use flexible groupings and structured inquiry to deliver high-quality lessons in line with the IBO philosophyMaintain a well-organised and stimulating learning environmentUse learning technologies to enhance learningUse information about prior attainment to set expectations for studentsUse a range of assessment and reporting methods that show student’s achievement in relation to learning outcomesProvide clear and constructive feedback to students and their parents and caregivers Plan and engage in professional learning activities that support school and systematic prioritiesTake responsibility for own professional development and use the outcomes to improve teaching and students’ learningMake an active contribution to the policies and aspirations of the schoolEnsure administration of classroom procedures is completed efficientlyCollaborate with teachers to design and deliver a transdisciplinary programme that integrates drama into the PYP framework.Participate in Quality Assurance and School Improvement in order to ensure high standards of professional practice and student outcomesUtilise the Professional Reflection and Development process to ensure own professional development and support for organisational prioritiesContribute to the wider life of the College including through the co-curricular programme and offsite activitiesSupport the academic, pastoral and co-curricular work of the schoolAs required as a Class Teacher or Learning Advisor, provide care and support for students to ensure all students make excellent progress and have the opportunity to flourishPerform other duties which may reasonably be assigned from time to time by the Principal or his/her delegateRequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Education, or Bachelor’s Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent An understanding of the IB and the key underpinnings of the curriculum frameworks is essentialClick here for more details about the roleFor enquiries, please contact Rashmi Tandon at tandor1@dc.edu.hk Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and offers may be extended prior to the job closing date.By applying for this position, your application may be considered for other opportunities (senior-level roles, head of department, etc.) within ESF.ESF is an Equal Opportunities EmployerThe English Schools Foundation (ESF) is fully committed to providing equal employment opportunity.
