This is an exciting opportunity to teach French in a thriving independent school. Currently, the children are taught French from Nursery to Year 6 where the focus is on developing a love of language learning in a fun and stimulating manner. Class sizes typically range from 15-20 pupils, and each class is timetabled for lessons twice a week. Pupils are well-behaved, polite, keen to learn and are all encouraged to achieve their individual best. Teachers in the department have high expectations for all, but very much tailor their lessons to suit the needs of each pupil. Planning is overseen by the Curriculum Leader and discussed in weekly team meetings; input and ideas from the whole team is very much encouraged. Children are keen to perform orally in French and this often evident during school performances.The successful candidate will have proven experience in teaching French to a high standard. You will be a creative thinker, with an evident passion for the subject and a keen desire to enthuse pupils and colleagues. You will enjoy working as part of a team, have a good sense of humour, and will maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues. The current success of the teaching body is due to the collective experience and supportive nature of the whole school. Results at 11+ are high with many achieving scholarships to St George’s College and other highly selective senior schools. Our aim is to develop independent, lifelong learners who are well prepared for their next stage of learning and we are seeking someone who shares our aims.
