We are seeking to appoint a self-employed Peripatetic Flute teacher and a Peripatetic Singing teacher to work at this leading co-educational prep and senior school in Surrey following the retirement of two members of the team.At present the roles (which could be carried out by the same teacher) would involve teaching a small number of pupils 1:1 with room to expand. Each of the current teachers has between 7 and 10 children on their roster. For Flute teaching applicants, Wednesday afternoon availability is highly desirable so they can be involved in the delivery of the school’s Year 3 instrumental scheme. Other teaching times are negotiable based on availability of rooms. The successful candidate(s) will have experience and knowledge of preparing children for ABRSM music exams. They will bring enthusiasm and passion to their teaching, and motivate their pupils to progress. They will also be expected to maintain clear and consistent communication with the parents of their pupils, and regularly enter their pupils into both formal exams and Informal Lunchtime Concerts at school. Peripatetics at Hall Grove are self-employed, engaged directly by parents, and set their own teaching rate. The current range is between £23-£26 per half hour lesson, with arrangements made directly with parents. Communication is directly between the parent and the peripatetic, but the school will act on your behalf in areas such as recruitment of pupils and will seek to assist with any problems which may arise with fee payment.
