This is a varied and highly visible role that involves maintaining an effective study environment, coordinating assessment processes, supporting student wellbeing, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of Sixth Form provision.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Study Supervision and AttendanceSupervise timetabled independent study sessions for Sixth Form students.Maintain accurate punctuality and attendance records using school systemsManage and promote an effective, purposeful and respectful study environment, supporting students to develop positive independent study habitsAssessment and Academic AdministrationCoordinate the administration of assessments which take place outside of lesson timeEnsure assessment sessions operate effectively and in accordance with school expectationsLiaise with curriculum teams to support assessment logisticsCover and Registration SupportSupport the administration of cover arrangements by taking registers for lessons where requiredDirect students appropriately during cover periods to maintain attendance accuracy and effective use of learning spacesStudent Support and Pastoral CareProvide day-to-day pastoral support for Sixth Form studentsRespond sensitively to students requiring emotional support and signpost to appropriate services where necessaryBuild positive relationships that promote student wellbeing, engagement and achievementSupport students with university application processes, including guidance on personal statements and progression planningSixth Form OperationsSupport assemblies and wider Sixth Form events through attendance monitoring and operational coordinationManage routine administrative tasks including printing and resource distribution within agreed budgetsContribute to enrichment activities and wider Sixth Form opportunitiesPerson SpecificationEssentialExcellent organisational and administrative skillsAbility to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong interpersonal and communication skillsConfidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate recordsAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgementCommitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeingDesirableHold a university degreeExperience working with young people in an academic or support settingUnderstanding of post-16 education and university application processesPersonal QualitiesCalm and professional under pressureApproachable and supportiveFlexible and adaptableStrong attention to detailPositive role model for young peopleSt Mary Magdalene Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.Please also note that as part of the Academy’s safe recruitment procedure successful candidates will undergo the enhanced DBS check.Pupils are very proud of their school.
