The ideal candidate is committed to inclusive education, builds strong relationships with students and families, and works collaboratively with teachers to ensure all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.The role includes providing targeted support for students with identified additional learning needs across Primary and/or Secondary School, developing individualized strategies, and promoting best practices in inclusion throughout the school community.Key responsibilitiesTeaching & LearningProvide high quality, individualized and small group support for students with special educational needs using evidence based, student centered approaches.Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), accommodation plans, and targeted intervention strategies.Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum content, teaching strategies, and learning environments to meet diverse student needs.Use differentiated instruction and assistive technologies to support access, engagement, and independence.Promote student self advocacy, confidence, and resilience as learners. Assessment & FeedbackConduct ongoing assessments to identify student strengths, barriers to learning, and progress toward goals.Monitor and document intervention outcomes using appropriate data and reporting systems.Provide timely, constructive feedback to students, families, and colleagues regarding learning progress and support strategies.Contribute to referral processes and external specialist liaison where appropriate. Inclusion, Well being & SafeguardingCreate an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.Advocate for inclusive practices across the school and promote understanding of diverse learning profiles.Support student wellbeing through positive relationships and proactive pastoral care.Uphold ULIS’s strong commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and ethical conduct.Collaboration & Professional GrowthWork closely with teachers, counselors, leadership, and families to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, transition planning, and whole school support initiatives.Deliver guidance and professional learning to staff on differentiation, inclusive strategies, and SEN best practices.Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with international standards and research in inclusive education Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.Recognized teaching qualification/certification.Proven experience supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting.Strong knowledge of differentiation, learning support strategies, and inclusive classroom practices.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Strong English proficiency (ULIS instructional language).Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment. Preferred AttributesExperience in international school settings.Familiarity with IB programmes and inclusive practices within inquiry based learning environments.Experience supporting students with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, executive functioning, or social emotional needs.Commitment to ULIS’s mission of preparing students for a sustainable, equitable future through skills focused, inquiry based learning.Openness to innovation and reflective practice; willingness to integrate new approaches to enhance student learning.
