By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in Science by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all. Science is taught at all Key Stages: Years 7 to 9 follow a course based on the Science National Curriculum using materials adapted for each pupil. At GCSE students follow the AQA Combined Science Trilogy specification or can opt to study Separate Sciences in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, again with AQA. All three science subjects are offered at A Level, again following the AQA specification. The science department had great success last year with 97% of students achieving above a grade 4 across all three sciences.All science lessons are taught in purpose-built laboratories in a suite of 8 labs supported by three preparation rooms and two full-time Science Technicians. As a department and a school, we believe that students learning does not just occur in a class room and feel students benefit immensely from outdoor and extra-curricular education. We offer a variety of trips throughout the year, including, studying the motion and forces of rollercoasters, learning how animals interact in a natural habitat, and visiting the sustainable communities of Dubai.
