I retired in March, 2026 from public school. I’m sixty-six years old and have been a teacher in Korea for seventeen years. For seven years I taught elementary (K-6) and middle (years 1-3) school in the Hwasong / Osan area of Gyeonggi-do, and a year at a middle school in Seoul. These past nine years I have taught middle and elementary in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. I’ve also taught parents and teachers conversation classes.
I plan all my own lessons. I use a mix of games and puzzles that match textbook lesson topics. I favor worksheets with lots of images to assist low level learners. As an art major I apply a hands-on approach to learning. My aim is for real everyday use of the English language.
I try to attend as many workshops and training courses as possible so I can keep improving my teaching skills. I take on-line courses. I’m active with the local language groups. I have taught workshops and wrote articles for the Native English Teacher’s newsletter. I’ve participated for two years in the Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Global Chat program for teachers.
I’m married and live in Korea with my husband of forty-five years. We love to explore new places, go to the theater and try different kinds of foods. We enjoy teaching in Korea and I wish to find another teaching position here.
